Ya-Hoo! We're in Red Deer Canada

We made it through the boring state of Montana and pulled up at the Candian border this morning. That was some experience!! The agents took Lisa's pepper spray, and then sent us over to the inspection center. Three very cute inspectors were there to inspect our vehicle and camper for firearms. If you notice in the picture, the doors to two of the bays are open while the inspection was going on. When it came time for our inspection, ALL the doors to the bays were closed with our camper, truck and us inside (and of course, the border inspectors)

They would not give us their names so I will have to describe them to you. The one with the nice behind did most of the grilling. He was sure we were carrying fire-arms because in his experience, two women traveling alone across Canada, ALWAYS carried fire-arms to protect themselves. They interrogated Lisa and I separately, so that they could get us to admit we had a hand-gun. I got the longer grilling, maybe because I looked like I would crack and tell them something. The really cute baby faced inspector didn't say much except agree with the one with the nice behind. There was my favorite inspector, who was really tall and really silent. Everyone knows how I like those tall ones!!

Here we thought they were going to turn us back because of our little scottie. We passed the criminal investigation, the money situation and only had this little fire-arm deal to go though.

After an hour, they finally decided we were telling the truth, and let us go.

We have no idea how fast we are going because the speed limits are in KM, so we just follow the rest of the traffic. We have only had a couple of people tell us we were doing something wrong!!

The truck is doing well, and the little scottie has been a trouper. Those guards did not want to take everything we owned inside of that scottie, in the back seat of our car, and the back end of the truck and inspect every little thing. So they believed us. Thank the Lord!

The roads are good, and we are making good time.

Carol, know that you are in our prayers .

We're in Denver Colorado!

We decided to driver to Denver Colorado to avoid the strong storm warnings in Missouri. Lisa's son, David, lives in Denver and so does Lisa's sister Sherri. The back of our little scottie has a little damage, and David is going to fix it for us. We met with him and Tina at their favorite Denver bar, Hoppers. This is such a unusual hang-out, as they have volleyball tournaments on the back deck (which is the only place you can smoke since Denver passed the no smoking in bars law) They also have awesome live entertainment, so we enjoyed our evening very much. If you get a chance to visit Denver, this is the place to come. There's a motel right next store in case you have as much fun as we did!

David sends his love to his children, Little Man, and Katie, and wants them to know that he loves and misses them very much.

We still want to visit with Sherri, and will try to do so before we leave this area. Then its on to the mountains!! Canada, here we come!!

For Our Fla Seminole Fans!

So many people liked out gator bars and bulldog bars, but wanted soap that represented their team-the Fla Seminoles. So we searched high and low for a mold and came up with the gold bar with the hand-painted Red Indian Chief head. The head is pinned to the soap, so if anyone wants to use it for bathing, instead of for show, they need to take out the pin which holds the head on. Lisa hand-painted the feathers, the stripes and the headband on the Indian Chief. It is really cute. We hope it meets with the satisfaction of those who support the Seminoles! Otherwise, we will have to try again!

Both of us are almost finished packing, and we are getting ready for the pig roast on Memorial Day weekend. I never realized how many supplies we had, until I had to start packing them up! It is a good thing we have them, as it will be difficult to order supplies until we get to Alaska.

We will be looking for our RV next week and hopefully we will find what we need. We will need a full basement, as we have tables on tents, and supplies up the ying yang!

Crimes against the Elderly

Sometimes we amaze ourselves with the creations Lisa and I come up with! We have found a way to create an 8 1/2 oz hand-made gator with the University of Florida colors. The gators themselves are a blend of orange and blue and the outer layer of the gator is green. We are getting a lot of sales on this item from the Gator fans here in Fla. We just made up a new order of the gator soaps to send to a customer in PA. Gator fans are everywhere, aren't they?

I am getting packed and ready to leave the house, as it closes on April 30th. I am a little angry about this situation, because it is my opinion that my mother, who has some dementia, is being taken advantage of by members of her own church, and by her own son. These people are buying the house at $50,000.00 less than it was originally listed, and my brother encouraged her to take this offer because he wants the money from the second mortgage he has on the house back. It leaves my mom with no money whatever, and all the hard work I have done in the last two years in trying to make her safe in her last years, is for naught. She will not be able to pay off the debts my dad left when he died, and will no extra money for basic necessities such as medicine, unless she stops paying those debts. She has given her lawyer (a member of her church) power of attorney, and it is the daughter of the lawyer's brother who is making such a good deal, leaving my mother with nothing. Her real estate agent is another member of her church who is supposed to be looking out for her interests but is friends with the lawyer. Another member of her church kept gouging her when the air-conditioning unit kept going out. I finally took the ball out of her hands and got another air-conditioning company which fixed it right away. (Not a member of the church)

My mother shouldn't have to live by other people's terms. She has paid her dues. Shouldn't there be a law against people who take advantage of the elderly or disabled?

Lisa and I have a business that will do even better because we do quality work. We have to do it on our own time, but we get our products to people as soon as they order, although this may change to shipping taking a couple of days, depending on the closest post office.

We hope you follow our journey along with us.
